5 ways to re-energize that doesn’t take a lot of time out of your day!
The hustle and bustle of everyday life can sometimes make us forget that we are very easily susceptible to burning ourselves out if we don’t take the time to figuratively hit refresh. Upon request, here are some things I like to do and the time that I find to do it!
ONE – MUSIC
I absolutely love music and I find that it is an amazing way to get instant energy. On my way to work and on my way home I blast my speakers and listen to my favorite artists (Cardi B is the number one artist on my playlist right now). Try to find music that is really upbeat to wake you up in the hardest parts of your day. I’ve taken a “bathroom break” at work to put in my headphones and listen to the favorite parts of a song to wake me up and feel like I’m not dragging through the rest of the day.
TWO – PRAY OR MEDITATE
I find that there are some days that are harder than others and the only way I can find to pull through is prayer. I take a deep breath and say a quick prayer asking for strength or patience or whatever it is that I am lacking in the moment and as I’m praying I re-charge. If you are not comfortable with prayer meditation is a good tactic to re-energize as well. Take 5 deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth and try to empty your mind of all thoughts. Shower time is the best prayer and/or meditation time you’ll be physically and emotionally cleansing yourself. Doing this will help to re-focus your energy toward whatever it is you are doing without feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
THREE – POWER NAP
If you are a working mom like me you know that sleep is hard to come by (especially with newborns and toddlers). They take so much of your time and energy that you are usually dragging throughout the day if you are not caffeinated. My ideal nap is 15 minutes on my lunch break. Sometimes in the afternoon right before my sons’ bath time I put them each in their cribs and take a 10 minute nap before I can finish the day. It helps with my irritability and increases my patience so that I am not snippy.
FOUR – WALK
I am not a walker. At all. However, I cannot deny that it is a great way to get energized! Walking helps to stretch my muscles and give me a much needed boost of energy. Park your car farther when you go do groceries. Start with little things and then once you get used to it push yourself to do a little more everyday. Exercise is very important for your health and walking is excercise!
FIVE – LAUGH
Laughter is the best medicine. Read a funny book or watch a standup! thanks to Netflix we can have this at our fingertips. YouTube is such a great place to find some funny videos for you to have a good laugh and release those “feel-good” endorphins and if you laugh enough you start to burn calories 😉 so get to laughing people!
What do you find gives you an energy boost?
